From creating a proper roadmap to gradually using the full potential of BIM Services below are a few other points that should also not be forgotten.

5. Create a BIM Execution Plan

It is essential that the company before starting the BIM project firstly makes a BEP. A BIM Execution Plan provides a framework and optimizes workflow. It specifically defines the task of each individual, which software will be used and also provides them with a timeline. This not just ensures that each person knows what they are working on, it also allows others to know whom to contact for what and who is to be held accountable. BEP is more essential when it comes to companies just starting with BIM as it provides them with set framework and thus eliminates chances of confusion and errors.

6. Gradually use BIM to its full extent:

BIM is not just useful during the preconstruction stage. It has variety of advantages that can be useful throughout the building’s lifecycle. The construction company must aim to gradually start using BIM for <del> </del>designing, detecting clashes, extracting construction documentation etc. They can use 4D and 5D BIM to streamline their schedule, extract quantities and keep track of their cost. Additionally, Scan to BIM Services can be used to create as-built BIM models which can be used for documentation, facility management etc. BIM and its enhanced visualization can also be extremely use for client presentation, gaining government approvals etc.

7. Don’t give up:

Whenever there is any change the initial
period can be frustrating and tiring but the company must not give up and go to
their comfort zone of using CAD. It might at time feel that going back to CAD
will make their work faster and easier but they must remember that once they
get a hang of BIM, they will able to achieve better and faster results. Halting
the transition of CAD to BIM will mean that they will also miss out on all the
benefits that come by using BIM and it could prove to be quite disadvantageous
in the future.

Outsource to experts:

There are a variety of companies
out there today who specialize in providing comprehensive BIM Services. The
company can also reach out to them and ask them to take over their project.
They are experts in what they do and hence can streamline your company’s
transition from CAD to BIM. Looking at the fact they have the experience, the
staff and the domain specific knowledge there will not be any errors or project
timeline issues. You can simply leverage their skills to outpace your
competition.

In the previous article we looked at the first four things that the construction company who is looking to migrate from CAD to BIM must keep in mind.
