Structural Scan to BIM Modelling for a Commercial Building, UK
Scan to BIM | BIM Modeling | 3D Revit Modelling
To create a 3D model of the Basement to the fifth floor & sheet creation in Revit from Scans provided by the client.
We were required to create a 3D Model in Revit for an existing building from the scan data. It was a commercial building and we were required to model the structural scope in LOD 300. The project area was approximately 17,275 sq.m. and it was executed in Revit 2019.
Part 1: BIM Modelling (Architecture & Structure)
Scan to BIM modeling of Existing building in Revit
Elements modelled: All structural walls, columns, slabs, upstands/downstands beams, rainwater pipes, joists, bracing, roof structure, rafters, trusses, floor, underfloor, stairs, ramps, external/internal walls, ceilings, bulkheads, voids/holes and material specs
Floors were modelled to match the point cloud with a 2m x 2m grid, by modifying sub-points.
All families were to be named accordingly, with the correct size.
Part 2: Sheet Creation
- Sheets of all the floor plan from basement to fifth floor.
- Sheet of Roof Plan
- Sheets of reflected ceiling plan of all the floors.
- Sheet of two Cross sections.
- Sheet of 4 elevations.
Part 3: BIM Modelling (MEP)
Elements modelled: Rainwater pipes & Manhole covers
- Detailed Revit 3D model.
- Sheets of Floor plan, Roof plan, Reflected ceiling plan, 2 sections, 4 elevations.
