A comparative study between 2D CAD and BIM

An engineer’s work has evolved drastically over the last few decades. Initially the architects, engineers and designers only had paper and ink at their disposal. Then came Computer Aided Drafting or CAD. Gradually CAD became strategic imperative throughout the market to create quality, cost-effective drawings in less time.
Finally the latest advancement came with BIM. The Building Information Model is a completely different working method. With enormous advantages BIM approaches the design and documentation of project by using 3d design and crucial information regarding the entire life-cycle of the project.
The advantages of BIM Services are abundant but change can be daunting and difficult. With this article we would like to make a case for the “Change is Better” by comparing 2D design with BIM.
